Irish Fluoride-Free Teleconference, Sept 8

FAN Bulletin | September 02, 2013

Dear Supporter,

FAN is very excited to announce the second International Fluoride-Free Teleconference, on Sunday, September 8 at 5PM (Eastern Time). All are invited to participate in this 90-minute teleconference for free, and participants will be able to call and follow a visual presentation via a link to a secure webpage that will be given out upon registration.   Last month’s call was a great success as it allowed more than 135 fluoride fighters from around the country and around the world to communicate and share their experiences in trying to end the foolish practice of water fluoridation. Join us on this month’s call and help us make it even more successful.

This Sunday’s call will feature presentations from two key Irish campaigners who will discuss their creative, broad-based and fast-growing campaigns in Ireland today. The presenters are Aisling Fitzgibbon (The Girl Against Fluoride), a 26-year-old nutritionist who is taking the government to court on fluoridation, and environmental scientist Declan Waugh. Both presenters will share their experiences with us in a lively and interactive discussion with plenty of time for Q&A.

The Republic of Ireland has been bound by a countrywide fluoridation mandate since 1964 after the introduction of the Fluoridation of Water Supplies Act in 1960. Today, 71% of the Irish residents are consuming fluoridated public drinking water, but that’s not stopping the woman who has become well known in her country as the Girl Against Fluoride. In fact, with the help of Declan Waugh and others, Aisling has succeeded in getting legislation introduced that would repeal the country’s mandate.

With a seemingly endless supply of initiatives to draw people’s attention to the problems of fluoridation, Aisling and Declan clearly know how to get people moving and funds flowing. Inspired by Aisling’s community organizing, a group of Irish school children are also organizing in opposition to fluoridation, calling themselves The Little Miss Fluoride Fighters. With guidance from Aisling’s mother, they have brought age-appropriate presentations to other school children in Dublin to inform them of the need to stop fluoridation.

We’re grateful to Aisling and Declan for taking time from their very active schedules to share their successes. Click here to register today and get prepared to be inspired! You can also learn more about our presenters and the fluoridation campaign in Ireland by visiting the picture links provided on this page.
