Brantford, Ontario, celebrates 70 years of fluoridation on June 20

From the agenda of the May 19 City Council meeting this proclamation was requested by Janice Mills, Chair of the Brant County Board of Health (letter to the Brantford City Council is attached).

Proclamation  – Community Water Fluoridation Day – June 20 , 2015 – to be read by Councillor  Sless

WHEREAS  the  Canadian  Public  Health  Association  and  the  U.S.  Centers  for  Disease Control have declared fluoridation of drinking water to be a great public  health achievement of the 20th century; and

WHEREAS 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of community water  fluoridation in  the City of Brantford, in Canada and in North America with fluoride first added to  the water supply of the City of Brantford on June 20, 1945;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Corporation of  the  City  of  Brantford PROCLAIMS  June  20,  2015  as  “Community  Water  Fluoridation Day” in the City of Brantford.
