… Utica’s Hazmat was also called to a liquid fluoride spill at the Hinckley Water Treatment Plant in the Village of Prospect at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, according to MVWA officials.

Roughly 3,500 to 4,000 gallons of fluoride spilled at the plant, officials said, and was cleaned up by Saturday evening.

“The spill had no effect on the drinking water quality that MVWA provides to its customers, and at no time was public health or safety jeopardized,” the MVWA said in a statement on their website. “Treatment and production of drinking water was not interrupted during the event.”

The cause of the spill at the plant remains under investigation.
