Fairborn: Council orders materials for new year

FAIRBORN — Cities often join with other cities for purchasing large quantities of needed material at a lower price. To that end Fairborn joined with the Southwest Ohio Purchasers for Government (SWOPAG) in soliciting bids for bulk quantities of water treatment chemicals for 2013.

According to Karen Hawkins, utilizes supervisor the needed chemicals included 150-pounds cylinders of chlorine, 550-pound drums of hydrofluosilicic acid (fluoride) and 55-pound drums of potassium permanganate. The council approved the purchase for $34,000 that is funded by the budget…
