The Farmington City Council meets beginning at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at Long Memorial Hall, located at 110 W. Columbia St.

… Also on the agenda is a second reading regarding an ordinance on fluoridation of the city’s water supply. City Administrator Greg Beavers explained since the city was required to use the same equipment to chlorinate the water supply late last year, the practice of fluoridation was stopped.

Beavers explained eliminating the ordinance does not mean the city has decided to discontinue the practice. There is no requirement for an ordinance to fluoridate. Removing the ordinance prevents the city from being cited for not fluoridating should an inspection take place.

… The public hearing and regular meeting are open to the public.
