The water served to Arden Manor customers in Golden State Water Company’s (Golden State Water) Arden System will be treated with fluoride beginning in August 2019, thanks to funding provided through a grant from First 5 Sacramento.

California State Law (Assembly Bill 733) passed in 1995 requires that water providers add fluoride to the water supply if federal grants or outside funding becomes available.

Fluoridation is the process of treating drinking water with fluoride to meet the standard established by California Division of Drinking Water to prevent tooth decay. Water fluoridation was introduced in the U.S. more than 70 years ago, and much of the population across the country and in Sacramento receives fluoridated water. It’s a practice endorsed by the U.S. Surgeon General, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and professional organizations including the American Medical Association and World Health Organization.

Fluoride is a naturally occurring element in many drinking water sources, and customers should not notice a difference in the taste, smell or appearance in your water.
