THE Central Highlands council will keep fluoridation in town water supplies, despite the LNP State Government making it optional for local government.

Mayor Peter Maguire said the council complied with a previous State Government directive to have fluoridation in place at Emerald, Blackwater, Tieri and the Gemfields by December 1, 2011, at a cost in excess of $1 million.

“We haven’t had one person complain about the fluoridation of water in our shire, I do believe,” Cr Maguire said.
