While the metallurgical-grade fluorspar (metspar) market is driven by the steel industry through its use as a flux, the acid-grade fluorspar (acidspar) market boasts a more diverse range of end-applications.

Through reacting acidspar with sulphuric acid, hydrofluoric acid is produced which is a critical base chemical in both the industrial and chemical sectors.
