OLYMPIA, Wash. — The State Department of Ecology has released a summary of environmental penalties issued for the first quarter of 2021.

Ecology issued over $83,000 in penalties of $1,000 or more from January through March.

The Alcoa Intalco Aluminum was fined $2500 for several discharge violations.

Ecology reports the Ferndale facility exceeded fluoride discharge limits last October and November.

It also didn’t meet sampling requirements in October and exceeded the release limit for oil and grease on one day in January.
