Excerpt:

Long-time Pinellas County Commissioner John Morroni was re-elected for another four-year term Tuesday while another incumbent, Norm Roche, suffered defeat on a night that saw commission candidates backing the Greenlight Pinellas mass transit plan do well at the polls [Morroni opposed fluoridation].

Roche lost to retired firefighter and Republican State Representative Ed Hooper

During the campaign, Hooper depicted Roche as ineffective and questioned his ability to work with other board members. He also highlighted Roche’s votes in favor of removing fluoride from the county’s water supply.

[Johnny Johnson lost also] Johnson, a first-time candidate who raised eyebrows by collecting more than $120,000 in donations…” (with help from his fellow dentists)
