Members of the Mebane City Council on Monday opted to keep fluoride in the city’s drinking water.
Because Mebane shares a water plant with Graham, the decision means Graham residents will also keep drinking fluoridated water.
The unanimous vote by Mebane council members came during their monthly meeting and followed a fair amount of discussion. Seven people — four dentists, included — spoke about fluoridation during a public comment session that preceded the vote.
Council members said they’d been inundated with materials concerning fluoridation since Graham voted six weeks ago to rid fluoride from its drinking water. The vote in Graham was contingent on Mebane voting in a like sense…
