Arguments for and against Portland’s fluoridation measure have set a new record in the Multnomah County voters’ guide.

Elections Director Tim  Scott says voters may notice their guide feels thicker than usual. He says it’s because of Measure 26-151.

“For that one measure, there were 22 arguments in favor, and 41 arguments against, for a total of 63 arguments on that one measure.”

Scott says the runner-up wasn’t even close.

He doesn’t have a number yet for the cost of the voters’ guide, but says he expects any additional costs in printing may be mitigated by the filing fees that interested parties paid to get their arguments printed.

Ballots will be mailed starting Friday and are due May 21st.
