Seventeen Southeast Nebraska towns were among more than 60 communities statewide deciding whether to opt out of state-mandated fluoride treatment of drinking water.

A vote “for” meant the voters opposed fluoridating the town’s water.

A vote “against” meant the voters wanted fluoridation to proceed.
