The Salina Cares group came out in full force this evening at the Salina City Commission meeting. Different Salina citizens in the group came forward to voice their concerns with fluoride during the citizens forums.

A few points that were made were that the American Medical Association has found that fluoride accumulates in the body with age. Also, those who drink fluoridated water have a twice as likely chance to have a hip fracture later in life. Another individual stated that the EPA has listed fluoride as a carcinogen.

The most interesting of the statements came from a young Salina woman who shared that she is allergic to fluoride and is not able to drink the city water. she shared that she must drink bottled water, if she does happen to fluoridated water her throat start to swell shut.
