Sandusky water superintendent Doug Keller provided the following response:

Yes, we do add fluoride to the drinking water. The city of Sandusky voted to fluoridate their drinking water in the early 1970s.

Lake Erie has a natural fluoride level of 0.15 to 0.20 mg/L. We add hydrofluosilicic acid to increase the fluoride level to 1.0 mg/L. The EPA strictly regulates the fluoridation process for all water treatment plants. The Sandusky Water Treatment plant has received an “Water Fluoridation Quality Award” from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the past several years. The awards are for the way we maintain our equipment and control the feed rate though out the year.

Because the public voted to fluoridate their drinking water, we cannot stop until the public decides otherwise.
