Title:Early fluoridation for Sarina
The Mackay Regional Council says Sarina’s water supply will be fluoridated before the Queensland Government’s deadline.
Fluoride will be added to the supplies from August 27, which is about three months before the deadline.
Fluoride was added to Mackay water last December.
Councillor Deirdre Comerford says the fluoridation of supplies in Mirani and Marian has been delayed.
“With the Mirani-Marian area we’ve asked for an extension because we’re building a new water treatment plant out there, so to save putting fluoride into our system now and then having to change it all we’ve asked for an extension to give us time to build the plant which they’ve approved,” she said.
