AFTER months of sparring, the gloves will finally come off tonight when the supporters and opponents of plans to fluoridate Southampton’s water share the stage.

Anti-fluoride campaigners will line up alongside health bosses at St Mary’s Stadium for the first of three Question Time-style debates.

The free event, which runs from 7pm to 9pm, is designed to give residents the chance to air any concerns they have about the controversial scheme, or query claims made by those on opposing sides of the argument.

Hampshire broadcaster Peter White will be chairing the debate, and two more to be held on November 18 and December 3.

South Central Strategic Health Authority, which is overseeing the current public consultation, is hoping for a good turnout at all three, after a disappointing response to its roadshow events.

Anyone wishing to attend any of the three debates should register by calling 0800 023 4680.
