Abstract
Changes in skin electric potential following immune challenge provide a sensitive measure of the intensity of the allergic challenge. In guinea-pigs sensitised to Sodium Fluoride, Fluoridation Mains Tap Water, or Ovalbumen with Sodium Fluoride, and then challenged with one part in one million Sodium Fluoride, significant allergic responses were produced. Ovalbumen alone caused an allergic response only after a second challenge. Purified water did not result in any immune response. It is concluded that Fluoridated Mains Tap Water is capable of causing an allergic response similar to that produced by Sodium Fluoride alone, and that Ovalbumen potentiates the immune response to Sodium Fluoride.

Contact urticaria from sodium fluoride
Sodium fluoride (NaF) is. used for the treatment and prevention of dental caries. Its application to the teeth makes the dental enamel more resistant to acid. In some communities, it is added to the water if the geographical area lacks sufficient fluoride. Another method of preventing dental caries is the

Perioral dermatitis from high fluoride dentifrice: a case report and review of literature
Perioral dermatitis is a papulopustular eruption, commonly related to the inappropriate application of topical corticosteroids with occasional reports of inhaled corticosteroids and decreased personal hygiene. We present a case of a 45-year-old female with a one-year history of perioral dermatitis related to the use of highly fluoridated toothpaste commenced to

Allergy and hypersensitivity to fluoride
A review of the literature was undertaken in response to four recent reviews which found that the evidence that fluoride was an allergen was unconvincing. Reports were found of urticaria, contact dermatitis and stomatitis occurring in response to fluoride, settling on the withdrawal of fluoride and recurring with appropriate challenges.

Fluoride Exposure Aggravates the Impact of Iodine Deficiency
A consistent body of animal and human research shows that fluoride exposure worsens the impact of an iodine deficiency. Iodine is the basic building block of the T3 and T4 hormones and thus an adequate iodine intake is essential for the proper functioning of the thyroid gland. When iodine intake is inadequate during infancy and

Allergic Reactions from Fluorides
Six cases are described with allergic manifestations from fluorides. The symptoms were reproduced by administering an aqueous fluoride solution either by ingestion, injection or local application. Control tests had no such effect. The patients had no way of knowing which solution contained fluoride.

Prenatal and postnatal ingestion of fluorides - A progress report.
The cases described indicate that certain patients react unfavorably to fluoride therapy. Whether the fluorine acts as an allergen after short term use or whether the fluorine acts as an intoxicant after many months of use, is unknown and should be determined.

Case Reports of Hypersensitivity to Ingested Fluorides
In the 1950s, the renowned allergist George Waldbott discovered that some individuals are hypersensitive to ingested fluoride. In a series of case reports and double-blind studies, Waldbott and other doctors found relatively small doses of ingested fluoride, including the consumption of fluoridated water, could induce side effects that would quickly
