The Fluoride Action Network has teamed up with Dr. Joseph Mercola and Mercola.com to bring you Fluoride Awareness Week. Throughout the week, Dr. Mercola will be publishing articles discussing the risks associated with fluoride and the need for ending fluoridation worldwide.
Dr. Mercola kicked off Awareness week with a new 26-minute video interview with FAN’s executive director, Michael Connett, JD, where we announce a new campaign we have launched to get the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to finally do what it should have done decades ago: ban the sale of fluoride “supplements,” which — by FDA’s own admission — are “unapproved new drugs” that have never been approved as safe and effective, and are thus unlawful to sell.
This week’s first article, entitled, “Pharmacies Called Out for Selling and Misrepresenting Unapproved Fluoride Drugs,” describes the findings of Michael’s investigation of America’s largest pharmacies, and announces FAN’s submission of a Citizen Petition to the FDA, on behalf of both FAN and the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology.
The genesis of this campaign was a “Warning Letter” that FDA issued in January, ordering a pharmaceutical company (Kirkman Industries, Inc.) to “discontinue marketing all of the unapproved prescription drugs manufactured at [the] facility immediately.” The unapproved prescription drugs that FDA identified were fluoride “supplements.”
The fact that the FDA has taken action against a fluoride supplement manufacturer, telling them to discontinue marketing of these unapproved drugs, is a big step. But FDA now needs to take it all the way, and make sure that these dangerous drugs are taken off the market completely.

Finally, we are happy to announce that Dr. Mercola has pledged to match all donations to FAN during Fluoride Awareness Week. He will donate up to $25,000 in profits from the sales from his store during Awareness week.
