Dear Tennessee Residents:
We have an unprecedented opportunity that requires immediate action by Tennessee residents and professionals!
A number of bills have been introduced in the Tennessee Legislature to prohibit the practice of fluoridation throughout the state. The key bill we are focused on at the moment (HB2396) will soon have its first public hearing in a subcommittee before the Assembly Agriculture and National Resource committee.
This is an unprecedented opportunity for change, and we need your help making sure it becomes a reality. I’m asking you to e-mail the state legislators sitting on the Assembly Agriculture committee urging their support of this bill.
We know you’re busy, so we’re making it easy for you – this will only take a few minutes.
Here’s all you need to say:
- You’re a Tennessee resident, voter, and water consumer. Maybe you’re also a parent or medical or scientific professionals. State this right from the start.
- You oppose water fluoridation because it’s minimally effective, if at all, and it has not been proven safe
- Urge them to please support HB 2396
- Your name and address – IMPORTANT – they need to know you’re a Tennessee resident
Of course, please feel free to elaborate on any of these points. Attached are a few one-pagers that provide further information you can include, plus any personal stories you’d like to relate.
Please do this as soon as possible! The committee hearing is scheduled for March 4 and we must get our messages to these legislators before they vote in this meeting.
Here’s all you need to do for your e-mail:
- In the subject line, write either Please support HB 2396 or Please end fluoridation
- Introduce your text by saying Dear Assembly Agriculture Committee members:
- Write the text for your e-mail, making sure to include the essentials above and anything else you’d like to say
- Copy and paste the committee members’ e-mail addresses as a block below, put them in the To field, and send your message to them. This can all be sent in one e-mail:

Keep your tone polite and share your personal reason(s) for opposing fluoridation, whether scientific, ethical, or based simply on common sense.
Again, if you’re a scientific or medical professional, or have been harmed by fluoride or fluoridation, please say this within the first two or three sentences of the email. These personal statements and qualifications are highly influential.
