ALBANY, NY (WRGB) — After years of debate, fluoride will be added to the city of Albany’s water supply.
Mayor Kathy Sheehan’s chief of staff Dave Galin confirmed that Sheehan signed the bill into law on Friday. In February the common council approved the measure 12-0.
Pediatricians and dentists supported the measure, saying it will help prevent cavities and decay for kids, those against saying they should have more of a right to choose what goes in their bodies.
It’ll take time to add the fluoride, likely to be implemented next year.
