The next city council could be asked to return fluoride to the city’s water supply. What is your position on this?
Undecided.
Occupation:
Businessman
Political/volunteer experience:
I’ve volunteered for various candidates at the provincial and federal level.
What is your motivation for seeking a seat on city council?
Reducing city spending while building prosperity and community for citizens.
Describe your leadership style:
Authoritative.
What do you consider the single most important issue facing Calgarians, and what should be done about it?
High residential and even higher business tax. The city needs to reign in its high compensation, benefits, and pensions.
What are the three most important issues in your ward, and how would you address them?
Lack of infrastructure, high taxes and lower priority given to Ward 5 issues than other wards. Reduce city costs and waste, work with developers on more P3 projects, and ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner. EG: Country Hills Boulevard east of Deerfoot has been under construction for over a dozen years. In that time frame, the ring road has been completed and Country Hills is still under construction.
Do you support the city’s downtown revitalization strategy? Where should funding and programs be focused?
I do support a downtown revitalization strategy, but it will not succeed if taxes are not reduced. The city needs to make it easier for people and businesses to prosper and when that happens the city will prosper as well.
What innovative project or job creation measure can you propose to aid Calgary’s post-COVID economic recovery?
The city should look at tourism-related infrastructure. A rail link to Banff would be a start. This hospitality industry would benefit from tourists staying in Calgary over Banff. Other attractions in cooperation with the private sector could be built to lengthen tourists’ stay in Calgary.
