A group of protesters have gathered outside Auckland’s Town Hall to speak out against adding fluoride to the city’s water.

Around 40 people picketed against fluoridation, claiming links to numerous mental health issues, cancers and bone diseases.

They say the number of countries that add fluoride to water makes up only 5% of the world, and their numbers are declining.

The protest coincides with the Auckland Council’s Draft Annual Plan hearings at the Auckland Town Hall.

The Council has received 134 submissions against fluoridation.
