The Bear Valley Water Authority hereby notifies its customers that at a duly advertised public meeting held on June 10, 2026, the Authority’s Board of Directors voted to discontinue the fluoridation of the Authority’s public water supply system. The Authority will begin this process by submitting the necessary Public Water Supply Permit application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) requesting approval to cease the addition of fluoride to the public water system. No changes to the fluoridation program will occur until PADEP has reviewed and approved the permit application. Following issuance of the required permit, the Authority will provide a second public notice approximately forty-five (45) days prior to the actual cessation of fluoride addition. The transition from a fluoridated water system to a non-fluoridated water system is anticipated to occur on or about October 2026, subject to PADEP review and approval. Members of the public may submit written comments regarding this proposed action to: Bear Valley Water Authority 218 School House Road St. Thomas, PA 17252 Please share this information with all other persons who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly. This includes people living in apartments, nursing homes, schools, businesses, and other locations where water is provided by the Bear Valley Water Authority.
