Bolivar’s Board of Aldermen voted 7-1 Thursday evening to maintain its current practice of fluoridating the city’s water supply at the rate of 1 part per million. Fluoride has been in the water supply since 1999.

Alderman Arleen Ferguson voted against, and aldermen Bill Jones, Steve Skopec, John Credille, Julie Bond, Darren Crowder, Bill Little and Clayton Troyer voted for it.

Now City Administrator Ron Mersch will determine how the city will pay for the unbudgeted $25,000 hardware and software upgrade required for daily monitoring of fluoride levels in the water.
