Bruceton will no longer fluoride the town’s water.
The second and final reading on an ordinance to discontinue fluoridation passed during the April 9 meeting of the Bruceton Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
No one spoke during a public hearing prior to the vote.
“It’s the town’s desire to cease adding fluoride to the water,” said Mayor Robert Keeton III.
Public Works director Brian Edwards pointed out that the equipment is worn out and since there are other means of obtaining fluoride, there is no longer a need for it to be added to the water.
The cost of the equipment would be quite expensive to replace and most towns have already quit the practice…
