CHOUTUPPAL (NALGONDA DT): Moved by the plight of flourosis victims, Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi came down heavily on the ruling Congress for its failure in bailing them out.
Chiranjeevi interacted with the flourosis victims in the village, as part of his second day Praja Ankita Sabha today.
He spoke to two patients of flourosis. A girl called Maheswari who was three-and-a-half years but looks like months-old-baby and a 27- year- old man Amsala Swamy who looked like a dwarf.
Moved by their pathetic condition Chiranjeevi said: “The rulers have no mercy towards them’’. Chiranjeevi, held the flourosis-affected gril in his hands and retorted: “This is what we call lack of common sense.’’ This was in response to Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s remark yesterday that Chiranjeevi had no `common sense’.
The PRP president mainly focussed on the flourosis issue and consoled the victims. Taking swipes at Congress Government for scarcity fordrinking water in the district, he lamented that people were forced to buy a container of water for Rs 10.
“How can Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy compare himself with Bhageeratha, who brought Ganga to earth from heaven,’’ Chiranjeevi questioned.
Flourosis Vimochana Samithi submitted a memorandum to Chiranjeevi, who assured them that the contents in memorandum would be included in PRP’s manifesto.
Samithi president Subhash urged Chiranjeevi that 70,000 victims belonging to 850 villages have to be rescued on war footing and the government should bear their health expenditure.
Chiranjeevi, later, visited Yellareddyguda near Nalgonda town and interacted with the flourosis victims and had a patient hearing.
The victims pleaded Chiranjeevi to provide safe water. He also visited a camp organised at the village and spoke to the victims.
However, chaos, prevailed at the camp and the one of the victim was crushed in the stampede. At Nakirekal, Chiranjeevi, assured them that his party would provide 20 kg rice on free of cost to the flourosis victims and the students would be provided with a glass of milk and an egg. He assured that his party would accord priority to the protection of the women. Security would be provided to women, if PRP is voted to power, he added.
He touched several pressing issues like erratic power supply and shortage of potable water. He asserted that he would strive hard to solve the problems in the district.
He blamed the government for delay in converting Vijayawada- Hyderabad National Highway into six lane. Every day many people are losing their lives on this Highway, he lamented and demanded immediate starting of expansion works.
He assured that his party would field hard-working men as candidates and urged the people to question them closely, if they did not work properly.
