Carl Junction Public Works had been adding fluoride as a community effort to prevent tooth decay.  Council members voted last year to end the practice, citing studies questioning the benefits and in some case potential dangers.

The plan was to use up the existing supply, which ran out recently. C.J. Voters had approved the program back in 2005.
