Posted on July 24, 2014 Location: IowaDes Moines Water Works has received a $17,300 grant from the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation.
The one-time grant will provide funding for new analyzer equipment and maintenance of instrumentation, metering and pumping equipment related to fluoride feed systems at each of the agency’s three water treatment plants, Des Moines Water Works said in a release.
Numerous studies have shown the cost benefits of fluoridation. One study found that every dollar spent on fluoridation can save residents $38 in dental costs. Des Moines Water Works spends approximately $130,000 annually in direct costs for water fluoridation.
