The issue of fluoridating Prince George’s water will be front-and-centre in the community at three events next month.

The Prince George Safe Water Coalition is bringing in Dr. James Beck of the University of Calgary for a short series of events. Beck is a physician and scientist who has studied water fluoridation over the past 10 years and has been a leader in the citizens’ effort to stop fluoridation in the City of Calgary, where the council recently voted 10-3 to stop the practice.

His first Prince George event will be a talk and book-signing at Books and Company on Saturday, April 2, from 5-7 p.m. HIs book is entitled: The Case Against Fluoride, and was co-authored by Drs. Paul Connett and H. S. Micklem,

Beck will also speak at a public forum at the College of New Caledonia on Sunday, April 3, from 2-5 p.m, in the Lecture Hall, Room 1-306. Dr. Beck will present both sides of the issue of water fluoridation on its effectiveness, safety and ethicality.

On Monday, April 4, at 7 p.m,, Beck will appear as the coalition’s guest speaker before city council. He will comment on the effectiveness in preventing cavities, safety and ethicality and will answer councillors’ questions.
