Guwahati (ABC Live): The ground water quality in Assam is deteriorating day by days due to mining activities in state.

In recent nearly 58000 water samples from different water sources were colleted to test the quality.

The results which government got is alarming issue as now only testing reports of 33000 water sources are available to Assam government.

According to these reports 1063 blocks in 23 districts have excess level of fluoride and arsenic contents in their ground water sources.

This revelation came from by Rihan Daimary, State Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister in state assembly in response to question asked by Mohibul Haq, an independent MLA.

When ABC Live asked Rihan Daimary later in his office he told that the recent water testing was done under Water Quality Monitoring and Surveillance Project, a project funded by union government and UNICEF jointly.

He further told ABC live that state government has not received any report of disease due to excess contents of fluoride and arsenic so far.

What can happen when you take arsenic?

Arsenic poisoning effects on allosteric inhibition of essential metabolic enzymes and destroy them which may lead to organ failure. More precisely this poisoning affects the brain, causing neurological disturbances and death.

Arsenic intake can also lead to skin cancer to keratoses of the feet.

Fluoride is also toxic

Excess level of fluoride i.e. 70 mg per kilogram of body mass kill most adult humans and can cause Hyperkalemia, Hyper salivation, hyperactive reflexes and Cardiac arrest.

It is serious reports from the far most region of India which is already suffering from terrorism from inside and outside terrorists’ actions.
