Excerpts:
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Hydrofluorosilicic acid. It’s a really big word at the center of an even bigger debate in Houston Missouri.
… The decision on whether to keep the chemical in the town water supply will be left up to voters in November.
We asked each side how it would cope with a loss.
“If this gets voted down, we won’t be taking fluoride out of the water because it’s in there naturally,” [Houston dentist] Richardson explains.
Specifically, if that loss was delivered by voters.
“If they vote it in and they discover that it’s causing more cancer and more problems, they voted it in not the city,” [Houston City Council Member] Wells says.
