The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is asking the province to make water fluoridation mandatory.
The organization’s board of directors has sent a statement asking Ontario to amend the regulations of the Safe Drinking Water Act.
The amendment would require community water fluoridation for all municipal water systems.
Officials say it would help prevent tooth decay.
The City of Windsor ended fluoridation in March 2013.
