The High Springs City Commission will be researching the pros and cons of adding fluoride to the water after receiving phone calls and e-mails relating to health concerns over the practice.
“Every few months, I receive e-mails and phone calls from someone who claims he was affected by the fluoride,” City Commissioner Eric May said.
The level of fluoride in High Springs’ drinking water could be potentially harmful for residents if it is too high, some have contended.
Fluoride is added to drinking water in various cities in an effort to reduce tooth decay.
The Commission decided to have the staff look into the issue and to discuss it during another meeting.
