Source: Calgary Herald | October 7th, 2021
Location: Canada, Alberta

The next city council could be asked to return fluoride to the city’s water supply. What is your position on this?

I will support what Calgarians vote for.

Occupation: Transit operator

Political/volunteer experience: Volunteered for 5 elections in the past (civic, provincial, and federal).

What is your motivation for seeking a seat on city council?

I want Calgary to be a most livable city again. To work towards this, there must be strong public services and a commitment to a post-pandemic recovery. With a revitalized infrastructure, our city can attract new businesses and create new employment opportunities. We need to retain our young adults so that they can work and thrive here. Affordable housing and quality low-cost childcare are key. Homelessness must be addressed. Good maintenance of our beautiful parks and no redevelopment of parklands is important. Completion of the Green Line is needed. Seniors need to be cared for and cultural diversity should be celebrated.

I am a born and raised Calgarian and I care deeply for this fair city and the people who reside here. I will always listen to my constituents’ concerns and do my best to represent them.

Describe your leadership style:

Dedicated, responsible, accountable, transparent, and approachable.

What do you consider the single most important issue facing Calgarians, and what should be done about it?

Right now it is getting past the pandemic. We must comply with medically approved measures, promote vaccinations and protect vulnerable individuals.

What are the three most important issues in your ward, and how would you address them?

  1. Prevention and reduction of homelessness, affordable housing.
  2. Unemployment reduction.
  3. Traffic flow and safety.
Do you support the city’s downtown revitalization strategy? Where should funding and programs be focused?

Yes, we must focus on repurposing downtown spaces for educational and residential purposes, attract new businesses and create a vibrant retail/restaurant area. The Green Line must be completed.

What innovative project or job creation measure can you propose to aid Calgary’s post-COVID economic recovery?

The Green Line project construction and operation will create jobs. Supporting good public service jobs and the quality they provide without contracting out to private for-profit companies is desirable.

What should city council do to keep young adults from leaving Calgary?

We need to promote new businesses to come to Calgary to create more jobs. Good affordable housing supported by public transit is a requirement as well as quality low-cost childcare.
