Monroe City Council fails to override Mayor’s veto on fluoride removal
MONROE, Wis. (WKOW) – Fluoride in drinking water has become a contentious issue in Monroe, where city officials are considering its removal.
The city council convened again Monday night to vote on the matter.
Earlier this month, a motion to remove fluoride passed 4-3, but the mayor subsequently vetoed that decision.
During Monday’s meeting, the council attempted to override the veto; however, the effort failed with a vote of 5-4.
As it stands, fluoride will remain in the city’s drinking water.
