Residents in the Ogden area and other parts of Northern New Hanover County will soon be getting better water.

The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will soon finish construction on its new $48 million nano-filtration water plant and associated well field, which are scheduled to open in September. The project will give roughly 17,000 residents better tasting water without the need for water softeners. The authority also plans to add flouride [sic] to the water.

Residents interested in learning about the benefits of the new plant and about protecting the wells that supply the water can come to an informational meeting 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Ogden Elementary School, 3637 Middle Sound Lopp Road. Officials will be on hand to talk about the process and the schedule and answer resident questions.
