MONDAY, AUGUST 11: The Community Improvement Committee will meet in Common Council Chambers, 258 Main St., at 7 p.m…
Mayor Dick Miller said the topic of fluoride in city water also is on the agenda for the CIC meeting.
According to Nathan Batalion of Oneonta, concerns have been raised with updated findings about fluoride’s toxic bio-accumulation by the American Academy of Environmental Medicine, among other sources. The city meetings are an opportunity to voice concerns about the use of fluoride, he said in message to The Daily Star.
Miller said Dr. Chris Wolf-Gould, city health officer, has advised the Common Council that the body and quality of research supporting fluoride in water is more substantial than that questioning its use.
Council members will review the issue, according to Miller, who said he “can’t imagine” the council would change the practice.
