Opposition grows against Horsham water fluoridation plan

The Country Alliance is opposing a Victorian Government decision to fluoridate Horsham’s water.

The alliance is backing the Nationals’ opposition to introducing fluoride to regional water supplies without community consultation.

Fluoridation began at Robinvale a fortnight ago, despite vocal opposition from some residents.

The Country Alliance spokeswoman Fiona Hilton-Wood says regional Victorians should not be dictated to by the State Government.

“No community should be told that they have to have fluoridation – the starting point should be no,” she said.

“And if there is enough community support to support a fluoridation in that community, then we’d like to see it go from there.”
