Concerned Community Groups unite in opposition to proposed Private Member’s Motion endorsing water fluoridation.

REGION OF PEEL – Peel Regional MPP Bob Delaney put forward a Motion on water fluoridation which is to be debated in the House later today. It reads:

That, in the opinion of this House, water fluoridation promotes good health, and the optimal concentration of fluoride in drinking water is essential to the health of Ontarians by minimizing tooth decay, and helping restore tooth enamel.

On September 25, 2014 the Region of Peel and the Province of Ontario were served a Statement of Claim by Plaintiff Liesa Cianchino about legal concerns with Peel’s program of artificial water fluoridation, including constitutional considerations.

The policy of the Province of Ontario has traditionally been to leave decisions on community water fluoridation up to the individual municipality in conjunction with the wishes of its electors.

This issue is now for the Court to decide based on the merits and legal arguments against artificial water fluoridation made in the Statement of Claim.

Ms. Cianchino is Chair of the Concerned Residents of Peel to End Fluoridation, Founding Member of the Worldwide Alliance to End Fluoridation and Board Member of Moms Against Fluoridation.
