Fluoride Free Peterborough will make its argument very public next week via an education session at the Peterborough Public Library.
On Jan. 28, starting at 6:30 p.m., group representatives will make their case as it pertains to the dangers of Peterborough water fluoridation.
The problems, the group sees, are as follows:
• Water fluoridation is not safe — it contains arsenic, lead and other harmful components.
• Water fluoridation is not ethical — according to the standards of the Canadian Medical Association, it’s medication without informed consent or the ability to decline being medicated, and without regard to individual dose or health status.
• Water fluoridation is not effective in protecting teeth — even public agencies which advocate for fluoride for teeth health acknowledge that while it might help reduce cavities when applied topically, it’s not effective when ingested, It makes as much sense to fluoridate water as it does to drink sun block.
A short video speaking to “the fluoride deception” will be screened during the session.
