A new fluoride filter manufacturing facility, which was developed to help mitigate fluorosis in the Ethiopian Rift Valley areas, through innovative fluoride reduction products and services, was launched in Modjo, Oromia regional state of Ethiopia today.
According to the press statement sent from the US Embassy in Addis Ababa to Awramba Times, the center was built by Oromo Self Help Organization and financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Oromo Self Help Organization will initially distribute the water filters to 12 community fluoride treatment systems established in four woredas of East Shewa Zone. Accordingly, residents who obtain the clean water from the water points will pay a nominal fee and a portion of the fee will be used to purchase replacement filters as needed, the statement added.
The center was officially launched today by H.E ato Kebede Gerba, State Minister of the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy along with Dennis Weller, USAID’s Mission Director in Ethiopia.
