State budget re-ignites fluoride debate (it’s no longer mandatory)

Yesterday’s budget papers reveal the state government expects to save $14m by making water fluoridation voluntary.

It will be up to councils to decide whether to fluoridate water. At the moment, the state subsidises councils to do so.
