The Red Lion Municipal Authority in York County is considering taking fluoride out of its water system and is asking residents to weigh in through a survey.

The authority is contemplating the discontinuation of the practice, which involves adding the mineral to water to prevent tooth decay.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly three-quarters of the U.S. population, about 209 million people, are served by drinking water systems that have fluoride in them.
