A retired chemistry professor who is a national opponent of water fluoridation will make several appearances in Wichita next week to speak against fluoridation.

Paul Connett taught environmental chemistry and toxicology for 23 years at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., and is executive director of the Fluoride Action Network and a co-author of the 2010 book “The Case Against Fluoride.”

Connett’s main talk will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Murdock Theatre, 536 N. Broadway. He’ll make four other appearances that are open to the public: a meet-and-greet at 9 a.m. Monday at Food for Thought, 2929 E. Central; a lunch lecture at the Riordan Clinic, 3100 N. Hillside, at noon Monday (lunch starts at 11:30 a.m.; cost $10); a lecture and forum at 7 p.m. Monday in Room 209 of Hubbard Hall at Wichita State University; and a lecture at Natural Grocers, 1715 N. Rock Road, at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

He also will be at the Sedgwick County Commission meeting that starts at 9 a.m. Wednesday, said Melinda Foley of Wichitans Opposed to Fluoridation.
