THE Clunes fluoride dosing plant has been switched off following problems with water flow.

Rous Water general manager Kyme Lavelle said low water flows through the mains at the dosing plant was “making it difficult in terms of plant operation”.

“All water supplied to the village has been within acceptable fluoride limits,” he said.

“Whilst the dosing plant is working fine, varying low flows are making the plant cut in and out on a frequent basis and it is therefore difficult to maintain a consistent flow of fluoridated water.”

Mr Lavelle also said that Rous Water had been running the plant at low dosing levels during commissioning, but had now decided to suspend its operation until contractors arrived next week to provide advice and assistance, enabling continued operation.
