While the Clarksburg Water Board heard the concerns of the public and professionals Tuesday, Shinnston Council had a fluoride discussion of their own.

Council met for a work session Tuesday evening and received advice from both City Manager Travis Blosser and City Engineer Steve Cain on the pros and cons of fluoride in the water supply. Council asked Cain to provide them with a full report soon, but mayor Sammy DeMarco says he believes they have enough evidence to keep fluoride in Shinnston’s water.

“Our plan right now is to stay with fluoride in the water. The documentation that we have received, coming from the West Virginia Health Department, says that fluoride is beneficial to society,” says DeMarco.

The city of Shinnston treats and supplies their own water.
