Fluoride is currently added to the water at the water plant. This treatment was started before fluoride toothpastes and mouthwashes were available, according to Allegri and city attorney Pat Cronan.
The council plans to hold public hearings to get the input of the citizens of Slater and dentists about the health benefits or complications caused by fluoride. The hearings would be to decide if fluoride should no longer be added to the water.
Filing dates for council seats are set for Dec. 11 through Jan. 15. Matt Campbell, Terry Jordan, Brownell Bryant and Ron Monnig’s terms are coming to a close…
