Some want Dubuque to stop adding fluoride

At Monday’s city council meeting, two people are on the agenda to speak against fluoride in water. Sandy Amberg will present a petition she says has over 150 signatures.

For some, the concern is cost to the city. Last year, the city treated 2.8 billion gallons of water at a cost of $6.5 million. Adding the fluoride was more than $22,000. The city also spends money on equipment upkeep…

Amberg says she intends to present a list of experts who oppose adding fluoride to water supplies and outline some of that research.
