THE fluoride debate is continuing with action group Save Our Shires organising a petition to have it removed from our water supply.

SOS member Sue Johnson said her main reason for fighting fluoride in our water was inequity and waste.

“With the old Stanthorpe Shire boundaries only 50% of residents are on town water and the other 50% have to supply their own but they are still paying for the town’s people to have fluoride,” she said. Southern Downs Regional Council CEO Andrew Roach said the council had collectively decided to continue to fluoridate water supplies until the community demonstrated significant concern about fluoridation.

“Any petition received by council receives equal consideration. All petitions are considered at a general meeting,” he said.
